Happy Friday all!!
For any of you who follow The WKU Herald, you’ve probably seen my first video of the semester. I had the privilege of following around Uber driver and Bowling Green resident, Rick Abbott. I got the chance to document his story over 3 days… I should say nights.
Late nights driving around in the passenger seat while Rick gave safe rides to those enjoying the BG night life was pretty cool. The only times I’m usually out at night is when.. well.. never; so it was cool to see the interactions on the street. I never realized how much the square changes after midnight. Needless to say my sleep schedule is still off.
The editing for this was a learning process because I’m not used to night shoots, but thankfully I was next to my editor who, despite working on a separate project, was willing to answer all of my questions and teach me what I had to do. Took until about 11 at night, but I think it turned out pretty decently. Thank you Tyler!
I learned so much about Rick, I got to meet his hilariously sarcastic daughter, and basically took a joy ride for 3 nights in a Chrysler 300. Definitely a great feature story to start off the year.
Rick, thank you for letting me follow you around and sharing your story with me.
